THE PAPER KITES
Release their single BLOOM in Ireland.
Australian indie-folk outfit The Paper Kites melds earthy instrumentals to create a sumptuous backdrop for the band’s pitch perfect harmonies. First released on their debut EP Woodland, Bloom is a stunning song that encapsulates everything that makes The Paper Kites hugely popular; upon hearing Bloom the listener is transported on a journey to a gorgeous, folk-inspired landscape, a world rich with personal lyrics and a raw sonic beauty.
Since its release Bloom currently has 60 million plays on Spotify, featured on a number of playlists, and amassed nearly 15 million YouTube views alone. The song recently peaked at #20 on the Dutch airplay charts in the Netherlands and was playlisted on the influential Dutch radio station NPO 3FM.
The Paper Kites began with Sam Bentley (lead vox, guitar, harmonica) and Christina Lacy (lead vox, guitar, keys, mandolin) playing local cafes in their hometown of Melbourne, Australia. When invited to play a local festival, they decided it was time to expand by adding David Powys (vox, guitar, banjo, lap steel), Sam Rasmussen (bass, synths), and Josh Bentley (drums, percussion). Since their inception in 2010 the band have released two acclaimed studio albums, States (2013) and twelvefour (2015), both entering the top twenty of the Australian album charts. They have quickly become one of Australia’s best-loved live acts and they have sold out a number of headline shows in their home country, and across both sides of the Atlantic in the US and Europe.
