THE CORONAS FIRST NO 1 ALBUM
The Coronas’ new album, Trust the Wire, has today entered the Irish charts as the official No.1, the band’s first No.1 album. On the same day as reaching the tops of the charts, the band has sold-out their biggest-ever headline show, IMMA on 1st July, where 15,000 people will see them perform on home turf. In addition, the band has sold-out their Sea Sessions, Galway Arts Festival and Live at the Marquee appearances. Any fans without a ticket wanting to catch the band this summer have only one opportunity left, Indiependence festival on 5th August in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.

The Coronas release brand new album ‘Trust The Wire’ on 2nd June
Release new album ‘Trust The Wire’ on 2nd June, 2017.
THE CORONAS’ extraordinary new album may surprise their army of fans. A sonic leap on from its predecessors, Trust The Wire sees the award-winning, arena-conquering band fuse their arms-aloft melodic pop with lush electronics, spine-tingling atmospherics and a new-found sense of adventure. It’s released on their own label So Far So Good Records on 2nd June 2017.
From its tightrope-walking title, to the content of its lyrics to its bold production, Trust The Wire brims with self-belief. Written on the quartet’s return to their native Dublin after almost four years living in London, it captures the focus they found in leaving home, the fresh perspective it gave them and a soaring maturity in their songwriting.
A decade on from their debut, having toured the world, topped the charts and surpassed their teenage dreams, it’s no surprise that The Coronas are surer of their strengths and readier to take risks. Trust The Wire fizzes with ambition, often in ways you wouldn’t expect from a band famed for their sing-alongs.
After a rollercoaster three years, including a stint on a major label before deciding to do things their own way, spellbinding first single ‘We Couldn’t Fake It’ recounts the band’s realisation that they were right to trust their instincts, rather than be swayed by a label only seeking sales. The hypnotically-beautiful ‘Give Me A Minute’ is actually about Danny feeling antisocial after a gig, but sounds like a romantic statement of intent. Ditto the spectral ‘A Bit Withdrawn’, which is about misconceptions, but could be a plea to a lover.
The album’s title, taken from a line in the broody, dramatic closing track ‘Look At All The Lovers’, reflects the recurring theme of self-belief and sums up a band both acknowledging their achievements to date and stepping out of their comfort zone to tackle new challenges.
“Like a tightrope walker who doesn’t need to see the next step, they just know.” says Danny. “It’s about believing that what feels right will work and going for it. If you don’t trust your instincts, you’ll never move on. This is our fifth album. It would be easy for us to stick with a sound because it’s worked for us in the past. But that doesn’t excite us. Discovering what we’re capable of as a band, knowing that we can grow and get better is what makes us want to keep doing this.”
Trust The Wire was written last summer at a rented house in Dingle. “It’s a beautiful, isolated place where we’ve been going our whole lives,” says Danny. The band then returned to London and Notting Hill’s Eastcote Studios to record with producer Eliot James (Kaiser Chiefs, Two Door Cinema Club), with whom they made The Long Way.
Trust The Wire may mark the start of a new chapter in The Coronas’ career, but some of the hallmarks of the band’s previous albums remain, not least the glorious, soaring choruses and lyrics that lend themselves to being howled back. The album’s second single, ‘Real Feel’, is a rousing, festival-ready summer anthem, while ‘Gut Feeling’ is a piano-driven, sunshine-soaked ode to trusting your instincts. ‘I Have No Age’ is ‘70s-tinged electronic rock and the sweet, sparse Not What You Know returns The Coronas to their folky roots.
The Coronas will perform festival slots this summer at Sea Sessions, Live At The Marquee, Galway Arts Festival & Indiependence as well as their biggest ever headline show in The Royal Hospital at Kilmainham on July 1st, which is quickly heading for a sell out.

Warsaw Radio release new single & video ‘Still Have You To Hold’
‘Still Have You To Hold’
“Elbow-esque and evocative” – BBC Introducing
‘One of those bands that you discover and you wish you’d known them longer’ – Chris Hawkins, BBC 6 Music
‘This is the definition of quality music and songwriting’ – Music News Today
‘Still Have You to Hold’ is the latest single from Brighton (via Limerick) five piece Warsaw Radio, a stunning track that combines baritone vocals with valiant strings to create a truly timeless sound.
In their words: ‘The song follows a narrative about an old couple who’ve been an item for 50 plus years and they have about ten more years left together as they’re in the twilight of life. For this record we aimed to create a big orchestral old world sound”
The result? A well crafted piece of music that BBC Introducing has said is “Elbow-esque and evocative”.
Named after The Warsaw Radio Orchestra, a group of brave musicians who kept performing during the WW2 invasion of Poland in 1939 – Warsaw Radio is a group of five remarkable musicians, who individually have worked with the likes of Sting, Cinematic Sinfonia, and Tom Odell.
Currently working on their debut album with The Maccabees & Florence Welch producer Jag Jago, the band have already toured extensively around the UK and Ireland, with headline shows in Whelans Dublin, Ronnie Scotts London, and The Great Escape Festival.
With a live sound that taps into their inspiration of Wilco and Fleetwood Mac, and in support of their new release, a song that merges rich instrumentation and emotive vocals, WR are live in London on June 22nd.

GOLDEN DISCS PROUDLY ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF
THE VINYL LOUNGE IN THE HEART OF CORK CITY
The city of Cork is famed for its vibrant music scene with world class bands, venues and record stores providing endless indulgence for music lovers. Now Cork city will have another string to it’s bow as Golden Discs get’s ready to launch its 1st ever vinyl-only store, The Vinyl Lounge on Patrick’s Street today, April 18th.
The Vinyl Lounge will take pride of place on Cork’s bustling main street in one of the city’s most beautiful buildings which is steeped in art heritage having served as a music store for over 30 years and a cinema prior to that. The Vinyl Lounge can be found on the second floor above the existing Golden Discs at 82 Patricks St.
Golden Discs, established in 1962, is a family owned Irish company that has strived to embrace an ever changing and diverse consumer base by keeping its ear to the ground. The upcoming launch of The Vinyl Lounge in Cork is a direct response to the recent resurgence of vinyl.
Despite almost dying out in 2006, vinyl has witnessed an incredible comeback over the past 8 years. In a digital age vinyl is providing a refreshingly tangible experience for music fans. There is a strong feeling among younger generations that ownership of a record translates to a clear support for their favourite artists. Not only does vinyl deliver an unbeatable sound but it also comes with exclusive artwork, authenticity and the opportunity to collect, swap and pass down!
Golden Discs perceived that this resurgence warranted a store dedicated to vinyl alone. Cork in particular has over-indexed the rest of Ireland in terms of music sales and Golden Discs hopes that The Vinyl Store will cater to this growing demand.
“Customers have been asking for more range and we’ve been extending the sections but we now feel the time is right to re-open upstairs which will provide a whole new store and over 2,000 sq feet to showcase the best in vinyl with deep catalogue and new genres previously not stocked.” – Stephen Fitzgerald, CEO of Golden Discs
And while The Vinyl Lounge will offer a selection of turntables, accessories and a rich library of vinyl, equally importantly it will strive to provide a cultural hub and city centre haven for music fans of all ages. The Vinyl Lounge will be kitted out with comfy couches, free wifi, test-drive turntables, racks of records and good strong coffee. Customers are invited to drop in, pop on a pair of headphones, sip on a hot cuppa and let the noise of the city fade away while the music moves in.
And it’s not only music that can be soaked up, at The Vinyl Lounge customers can look forward to catching a brand new photography exhibition every 3 months showcasing the country’s finest talents. To kick this off The Vinyl Lounge is delighted to exhibit Cork born, Dublin based photographer Bríd O’Donovan who has combined her passion for photography and music by documenting the effervescent music scene around Ireland. Brid has captured the magic at music events up and down the country including Indiependence, Hard Working Class Heroes, Body & Soul and Forbidden Fruit to mention but a few.
The Vinyl Lounge will open just in time to coincide with the worldwide celebrations for the 10th annual Record Store Day on April 22nd. And to raise the roof in style Golden Discs are delighted to welcome some of Cork’s leading artists to The Vinyl Lounge for an afternoon of performances on the day.
At 12.20pm Americana, soul songstress Anna Mitchell will kick the party off with new music from her forthcoming album. Following this at 1.10pm multi-instrumentalist Clare Sands will grace the stage to perform songs from her new album Join Me At The Table. At 2pm The Grunts will raise the tempo to alt-rock. Warsaw Radio release new single ‘After Eve’ and announce Irish tour
Return to Ireland this March with new single ‘After Eve’
“Irish frontman McNamara has a knack of enveloping the listener with his story telling style song-writing”
– Source Magazine, UK
With baritone vocals, soaring strings and a unique outlook on a familiar tale, Warsaw Radio return with the launch of their new single ‘After Eve’, exploring one of the first ever love stories – Adam and Eve. Produced by Jag Jago (The Maccabees and Florence Welch) and mastered by John Davis (U2 and White Lies) at Metropolis in London, ‘After Eve’ draws listeners in from the start with rich orchestration and McNamara’s warm vocals. The narrative follows a unique perspective, imaging if Adam and Eve separated after they are forced out of the Garden of Eden, sung from the perspective of Adam. The entirely original outlook on the religious tale, alongside combined baritone vocals layered above soaring strings, forms an addictive single.
Fresh from their feature on BBC Introducing Warsaw Radio will arrive back on home soil on 22nd March with shows in Whelan’s, Dublin, Crane Lane, Cork, Dolan’s, Limerick and The Loft in Galway before returning to the UK to play the Brighton Fringe festival in May.

Keith Donald’s one man show NewBliss, John Field Room @ NCH on 28 February
Keith Donald’s one-man show NewBliss will be performed in the John Field Room in National Concert Hall, Dublin at 8pm on Tuesday 28 February, 2017.
NewBliss is more than a play, it’s a musical memoir, with 5 instruments, 10 songs and 900 lines of verse. NewBliss tells the story of Keith’s journey from a troubled and talented child growing up in Belfast to a masterful musician in Ireland, Europe and beyond. It is an insight into the life of a musician, from pit orchestra gigs to pay the bills, all the way through to sold out stadium tours.
For more than thirty years Keith’s successful musical career was blighted by addiction. Twenty years after getting sober, Keith sat down and wrote NewBliss, a one-man play which is an unflinching and emotional look back at his life and his desperate battle with alcoholism. It combines Keith’s words, verse and music to tell the story of his journey from addiction to redemption.
With brutal honesty and humour, in music as well as words, he tells us about the mistakes he made, the hearts he broke, the huge successes and moments of light, the promises he couldn’t keep and the loss of friends and colleagues on the way. Finally, he reveals how he eventually found redemption. It’s a raw, heart-breaking and at times blackly comic story, told first hand by its survivor.
Keith Donald is a renowned saxophone and clarinet player who is most well-known as a founding member of Moving Hearts. In a career that has spanned over fifty years Keith has played on over eighty albums and worked with artists including Van Morrison, Mary Coughlan, Ronnie Drew, Christy Moore, Don Baker, Louis Stewart, Gerry Mulligan, Zoot Sims, Barney Kessel, Vusi Mahlasela, Mary Black, Tom Robinson, Fiachra Trench, Noel Kelehan, and dozens of others in many genres.

NOEL GALLAGHER’S HIGH FLYING BIRDS WILL JOIN U2 ON ‘THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR 2017’
NOEL GALLAGHER’S HIGH FLYING BIRDS WILL JOIN U2 ON ‘THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR 2017’ ACROSS THE UK AND EUROPE
Live Nation today announced that U2 will return to select stadiums this year with U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the band’s seminal album. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will join the band as special guests and will play 8 venues across the UK and Europe.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will join the tour when it opens in Europe in Twickenham on 8th July.
Noel said,“It will be both a pleasure and an honour to play my part in what still remains the greatest show on earth.”
U2’s fifth studio album The Joshua Tree was produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, and featured iconic artwork which cemented the career of photographer and director Anton Corbijn. Recording took place in Dublin at Windmill Lane Studios and Danesmoate, the house which subsequently became bassist Adam Clayton’s home.
“The original was such a ground-breaking tour, the one people always ask about. I’m thrilled that the band can celebrate The Joshua Tree in this way with the fans, the time is right.” – Arthur Fogel, President – Global Touring and Chairman – Global Music, Live Nation
“It seems like we have come full circle from when The Joshua Tree songs were originally written, with global upheaval, extreme right wing politics and some fundamental human rights at risk. To celebrate the album – as the songs seem so relevant and prescient of these times too – we decided to do these shows, it feels right for now. We’re looking forward to it.” – The Edge
“Recently I listened back to The Joshua Tree for the first time in nearly 30 years… it’s quite an opera. A lot of emotions which feel strangely current, love, loss, broken dreams, seeking oblivion, polarisation… all the greats… I’ve sung some of these songs a lot… but never all of them. I’m up for it, if our audience is as excited as we are… it’s gonna be a great night. Especially when we play at home. Croke Park… it’s where the album was born, 30 years ago.”- Bono
Tickets for the U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 are on sale Monday, January 16th in Ireland, the UK and Europe and Tuesday, January 17th in the US and Canada. The Paper Kites release their single Bloom in Ireland
THE PAPER KITES
Release their single BLOOM in Ireland.
Australian indie-folk outfit The Paper Kites melds earthy instrumentals to create a sumptuous backdrop for the band’s pitch perfect harmonies. First released on their debut EP Woodland, Bloom is a stunning song that encapsulates everything that makes The Paper Kites hugely popular; upon hearing Bloom the listener is transported on a journey to a gorgeous, folk-inspired landscape, a world rich with personal lyrics and a raw sonic beauty.
Since its release Bloom currently has 60 million plays on Spotify, featured on a number of playlists, and amassed nearly 15 million YouTube views alone. The song recently peaked at #20 on the Dutch airplay charts in the Netherlands and was playlisted on the influential Dutch radio station NPO 3FM.
The Paper Kites began with Sam Bentley (lead vox, guitar, harmonica) and Christina Lacy (lead vox, guitar, keys, mandolin) playing local cafes in their hometown of Melbourne, Australia. When invited to play a local festival, they decided it was time to expand by adding David Powys (vox, guitar, banjo, lap steel), Sam Rasmussen (bass, synths), and Josh Bentley (drums, percussion). Since their inception in 2010 the band have released two acclaimed studio albums, States (2013) and twelvefour (2015), both entering the top twenty of the Australian album charts. They have quickly become one of Australia’s best-loved live acts and they have sold out a number of headline shows in their home country, and across both sides of the Atlantic in the US and Europe.
