    New Album ‘Ghost’s Parade’ – Out Sept 19th 2014

Download/CD/& Limited Edition Clear Transparent 12” Vinyl.

After a year in hiding, writing, recording & honing their craft, Fox Jaw are ready to release their second long player, ‘Ghost’s Parade’, and are equipped with a sagacious mind for the road ahead…

A modern band with an old soul, they have been producing a trend shaking, majestic deep growl, which swaggers from the terrific to the sublime. A band that usually err on the side of darkness, but always keeping it sweet and melodic with an honest collection of dark pop songs. Critics praising them as “True hidden gems”, “A seductively gloomy sound in a league of its own … will both mystify and satisfy” (State.ie). And “one of Ireland’s most inventive and engaging rock bands” (Hotpress).

‘Falling Debris’, out Friday September 12th, is the third single from the upcoming sophomore album, ‘Ghost’s Parade’, recorded with producer Dave ‘Skippy’ Christophers (Josh Ritter, Whipping Boy, Mundy) & engineer Owen Lewis (Flogging Molly, Snow Patrol, REM), and mastered at WAV Mastering by Richard Dowling (David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Interpol). ‘Ghost’s Parade’ is out September 19th 2014.

With an already successful year of single releases with an impressive amount of airplay, raising many eyebrows in the Irish music industry, as a band proving themselves with an ever expanding sound. From the sleazy blues ballad sounds of ‘Kerosene’, to the rock & roll foot stomps of ‘Hijack’ – ‘Falling Debris’ further adds to an already technicolor palette, and gives one more snippet before the new long player finally gets its public release.

A simple background check on the band reveals, that the guys are one of the hardest working bands in the country. Formerly Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters, they released their debut album ‘The Devil In Music’ in 2011, and played close to 100 shows within 24 months, across Ireland, the UK & Canada (80 of those shows were within the first 10 months!). With many festival appearances including Indie Week (Toronto), Glasgowbury Festival, Vantastival, Arthur’s Day, Knockanstockan and even being added to the Main Stage at Indiependence Festival to share the boards with the like of Ash, Editors & Therapy?. Going from strength to strength, featuring on a Becks Vier TV advertising campaign, a flip cover of Hot Press, and receiving an ‘Album Of The Year’ Award from Independent UK music website, The Underclassed. There’s a strong chance you’ve come across this band before, without even realising!

  • PHOX release their debut album in Ireland!

    New Single ‘Slow Motion’

    & self-titled debut album both

Due for Irish release on 29th August

“Buoyant African and Caribbean grooves behind sometimes moody reflections.” – New York Times

“Not only does this sextet have abundant energy and a batch of strong songs, but it’s also got Monica Martin, as charismatic a lead singer as I’ve seen in a while.” – NPR

“A pop sensation in waiting” – Clash / “Monica Martin’s honeyed voice; it’s full of soul” – NME

“A triumph” – The 405 / “Monica Martin has a torch singer’s quiet glamour and smoky voice” – Uncut

It’s a rare thrill nowadays, when listening to the opening few bars of a track, to hear a voice that slices its way through such a riot of colour and effortlessly holds your attention. The breathy-yet-powerful intensity of Phox’s Monica Martin’s voice sits somewhere between the evocative agelessness of Christine McVie or Nina Simone with more modern echoes of Chairlift’s Caroline Polacheck. Beneath this, an elegant Lee Hazlewood-meets-Regina Spector arrangement and compressed drums that St Vincent would be envious of. Wisconsin’s Phox straddle the normally shaky boundary between sounding modern and classic, perhaps what Haim would sound like if they were brought up in the South instead of the West Coast.

Phox touch many genres, swimming amidst a heady fill of rock, psychedelia, and soul. ‘Slow Motion’ has the ability to hazily transport you to a summer setting; whilst maintaining an ever-pulling nostalgia, it becomes infectiously heartening. The smoky jazz vocals from Monica Martin provide a heavy, sultry coating to the glittering pop backgrounds that slide into clarinet interludes. The single is out now through Partisan Records which is taken from their self-titled debut album due for release on the same date.

In Baraboo, Wisconsin, six unlikely musicians attended high school together, and after a short stint of separation to pursue careers of their own, their hometown was calling. They rekindled their creative streaks, almost as a family, after moving in together. It was Monica who needed to be convinced of her own talent, set against the soundscape of cups, woodwind, pianos and electric guitars provided by fellow band members Jason Krunnfusz, Matthew Holmen, Zach Johnston, Matteo Roberts and Davey Robert. Through the colourful arrangement of ‘Slow Motion’, Americana influences and Caribbean rhythm can be heard, but it’s with the bare, stripped-back harmonies and subtle melancholy of the lyrics that show Phox has created something totally enchanting and unique, captivating from the first listen.

Ask the band how they would describe themselves and they’d say:

PHOX is a bunch of friends from the Midwestern circus hamlet Baraboo, Wisc., a place where kids often drink poisoned groundwater and become endowed mutants. They make music that straddles Feist and Monty Python.”

With recent support slots with The Lumineers and Laura Mvula, and an appearance at this years Electric Picnic, this Wisconsin sextet are set to cross the pond again and you can catch them in at The Sugar Club this November.

  • Join Me In The Pines announce Stendhal Festival and Body & Soul performance at Electric Picnic

    final-bwlr-sml

    Announce performances at

Stendhal Festival, Limavady on Saturday 9 August

And Body & Soul Stage @ Electric Picnic, 2014

Debut album will be released on 10th October in Triskel Christchurch, Cork

Join Me In The Pines released their debut single ‘Joy Is A Lion’ earlier this year to two sell out shows in Dublin’s Unitarian Church and Coughlans in Cork. Following on from this success JMITP have announced more tour dates for this year. The next few months sees the band performing up and down the country with Triskel being the only other Cork City show for this year so make sure you jump on those tickets fast not to miss out!  JMITP are also happy to announce a set at this year’s Body & Soul stage at Electric Picnic.

The man behind the moniker is Bell X1’s David Geraghty who is putting finishing touches to the album which is due for release on the 10th October. Geraghty released his debut solo album ‘Kill Your Darlings’ in 2007, to critical and fan acclaim. The album was also nominated for a Choice Music Prize that year. 2009 saw David return with his second solo offering ‘The Victory Dance’. Both of these albums were written and recorded between stints in the hectic Bell X1 touring schedule.

Similarly, Dave’s new project, ‘Join Me in the Pines’ was written and recorded over a year and half while on and off the road. JMITP is a return to the somewhat isolated creative process under which his debut album was made. This time around the process benefits from a newly built home studio, (which was tried and tested on the demos for Bell X1’s “Chop Chop” album). “Finally there’s a place, other than their flight cases, where all these instruments can reside. Every musician’s dream is to have their own home studio. However, this dream is of the double-edged sword variety. Being a workaholic, it’s sometimes difficult to switch off knowing that the studio is attached to your living room.”

Once again Geraghty displays his musical skills on the new album by playing almost all of the instruments, although it was enhanced by some great talents from the trad, folk and classical worlds.  Clare Finglass, who appeared on Dave’s first two albums, again lends her voice to make one half of the backing vocal duo. The other half being Dave’s Mammy. “Because apart from being amazing, she works for free”. The album is being mixed by Phil Hayes, who has also recorded and mixed some of Bell X’s albums (Flock, Tour de Flock, Blue Lights on the Runway, Field Recordings).

It is a busy year for Mr. Geraghty as he is also writing the film score for “You’re Ugly Too” starring Aidan Gillen. The film is set to appear at film festivals around the world from September with a release date due for next year.

  • Ayala releases new single 5157 Miles on 29 August

    New Single by

    AYALA

    ‘5157 Miles’

    Out August 29th

Ayala is releasing her new single ‘5157 Miles’ in Ireland on the 29th August. Last year saw Ayala have a top 5 club hit in the UK with her song ‘The Sun Has Come’ remixed by Joey Negro (Kelly Rowland, Mariah Carey, Sugababes, Diana Ross, Lionel Ritchie and Pet Shop Boys). This track reached the top 10 in the Music Week club chart.

Since then Ayala has been writing in LA where she wrote ‘5157 Miles’ which was inspired one day when Ayala was feeling home sick and missed her family in Dublin. She decided to look up the distance between Dublin and LA which turned out to be 5157 miles and the song was born.

Ayala spent the early years of her life in Dublin. Her parents were extremely musical and had an old record player with tonnes of old jazz records that Ayala listened to and loved. “I was mad about Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan too. But I wasn’t only into the highbrow stuff. I also loved Whitney Houston and Kylie Minogue.”

Ayala wanted to sing from a very young age, her solo debut was in a school play at the age of 5 and ever since she has had no doubt she wanted to make a career of it – “Although I can play the harp, the violin and the piano too, my heart has always been in singing – that’s when I feel at my most creative and happy.”

Ayala has been compared to Alicia Keys, Corinne Bailey Rae and Emile Sande and her music has been praised by many. Ayala’s music will sound as fantastic 50 years from now as it does today. Ayala is here to stay.

‘5157 Miles’ will be released via De Angelis Entertainment on the 29th August.

  • Aisling releases first single ‘Hear My Prayer’ from her debut album ‘Hold My Dream’

    Aisling_rezize_1

     AISLING

    ‘Hear My Prayer’

    Out 22nd August

When multi-award winning writer and producer, Andy Hill, whose credits include Celine Dion, Cher, Diana Ross, Michael Ball, Katherine Jenkins and Westlife, describes someone as “the best singer I have worked with in a long while, who combines a naturally beautiful voice with great feel, sensitivity and knowledge of music” the world takes notice.

Aisling was born and brought up in the small rural village of Ballycanew in County Wexford. Surrounded by rustic countryside and close to the beach it has inspired her writing and is still the place she goes to relax and be with her family. Music has been a constant part of her life and background, whether it was listening to pop, rock and classical records on the radio during the 1990’s, her father playing the button accordion at family get-togethers or listening to her sister Deirdre sing as one of The Irish Sopranos and her work embraces the many styles that she’s absorbed.

‘Hear My Prayer’ is the first single from Aisling’s debut album ‘Hold My Dream’ which was recorded and produced by Andy Hill at his Suffolk studio in 2013. ‘Hear My Prayer’ is a song about life’s uncertainties and is a cry for guidance in this unpredictable hazy world.

“I wrote this song when I personally was feeling unsure, wondering what I should do with my life, worried about money, life, my family and wanted to put that into words. But as I started writing the lyrics, it became less about my own worries and stresses and more about how everyone goes through bad or worrying times but try to hide it behind closed doors. That no one ever really knows the answers and so they look for someone or something to guide them. In my case and in my song it’s a prayer for guidance in a world which seems to have a lot of confusion, fear and uncertainty and looking for a ‘cure’”.

‘Hold My Dream’ is the debut album from Aisling also set for release on the 22nd August.
