It is a community of fans, promoters and artists that have a single overriding interest – the promotion of new artists and their music.
In order to ensure the coalitions growth and implementation in Dublin this year youbloom will be supported by Dublin City BID (Business Improvement District) under its Dublin Town.ie programme.
“youbloom is evolving into a cross between a grassroots new music Live Nation and a music industry LinkedIn” stated youbloom founder and CEO, Phil Harrington. What started with a focus on new artists competing for fan votes in the youbloom Music Awards in 2010, is now growing into a global network of live events and annual festivals, (delivered by a network of local promoters under the youbloom brand), all connected through the youbloom.com website. youbloom.com provides a platform for fans to discover new artists, where they have the tools to create relevance for the artists they love and would like to see live.
A part of this youbloom@Dublin weekend is also to nurture this emerging new talent. METEOR CAMDEN CRAWL ANNOUNCE OPENING NIGHT PARTY & INTERNATIONAL LINE UP
OPENING NIGHT PARTY ANNOUNCED FOR FRIDAY 3RD MAY & INTERNATIONAL LINE UP UNVEILED
With less than two months to go until Dublin’s city centre streets come alive with the best cutting edge Irish and International talent over the May Bank Holiday Weekend, Meteor Camden Crawl Dublin can finally reveal the full line up, bar a few special guests which will remain under wraps for a little while longer.
The festival will kick off with an action packed Opening Night Party on the eve of the full blown Crawl. Montreal based Dirty Beaches led by prolific multi-instrumentalist Alex Zhang Hungtai will headline the Friday night festivities. Supporting their brand new album out in May, the critically acclaimed band will make their first European stop in Dublin before heading to London for their performance at the Yeah Yeah Yeahs curated ATP I Will Be Your Mirror festival. Completing the bill at Whelans on 3rd May will be Meteor Choice Award nominees windings, hyped US/UK boy girl duo Big Deal and London’s Tropics plus very special guests still to be announced. Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday 22nd March priced at €20.00 (excl booking fee) and will be available from Entertainment.ie/tickets and the wavtickets.ie.
Whilst some of the most hyped homegrown artists have already been announced in recent weeks, anticipation has built for the unveiling of names that will be travelling from abroad to grace the stages of the second Meteor Camden Crawl Dublin on 3rd – 5th May 2013. So, without further adieu, we are pleased to disclose, in no particular order, the International acts performing this year.
Brooklyn born sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson, anchors of the new-age revival project Prince Rama will unveil their live spectacle in Dublin alongside compatriots Atlanta, Georgia’s self described ‘Flower Punk’ band The Black Lips’ return to Dublin for the first time in two years. Stubborn Heart, the Oxford based duo recently awarded Rough Trade Shops’ Album of the Month, will offer up addictive pop and dubstep whilst the reincarnated Joe Flory as Amateur Best (formerly Primary 1) brings his brand of hook filled cartoon sonics to Ireland for the first time.
The entrancing electronic instrumental noise rock from London three piece Three Trapped Tigers whose debut album was deemed a ‘masterpiece’ by critics will join Wrexham’s Gallops in flying the flag for instrumental soundscape-ism movement. On the other end of the scales, Glasgow’s PAWS and London’s Arrows Of Love will serve up some well needed raucous punk rock countering the more soothing sounds from fellow Scots Kid Canaveral and Fence label boss and recording artist Johnny Lynch (aka The Pictish Trail).
Travelling further a field, We Were Evergreen perform their innovative Parisian brand of folk pop-tronica across both days of the festival. Also flying Le Tricolour is Caen’s Concrete Knives who’s debut Bella Union album ‘Be Your Own King’ is currently being met by rave reviews. Labelmates Lanterns On The Lake sail over from Newcastle to stage their luscious layer of gorgeous sounds. Only 22 and already signed to beat heavy players Planet Mu, Tropics (aka Chris Ward) brings us radio sounds of dreamy summer nostalgia.
Making a different kind of noise and currently releasing on the hot as anything Tri-Angle Records, WIFE is the subtly disquieting electronic journey of James Kelly (former black metal band vocals) and probably an acronym of something very curious. And, on the sound of dark, Warp Records’ Darkstar make dark warped electronic and slightly psychedelic pop perfect for their late night performance on the closing night of the Crawl. Also signed to Warp and one of the best live artists we’ve seen in some time, PVT (pronounced ‘pivot’)hands down travels the furthest from Sydney, Australia to show off their powerful synthetic post rock.
Making a different kind of noise at the event and currently releasing on the hot as anything Tri-Angle Records is Manchester producer currently making big waves in Dublin Holy Other and WIFE, the subtly disquieting electronic journey of James Kelly (former black metal band vocalist) and probably an acronym of something very curious. From curious to mysterious, No Ceremony///, the Mancunians who dominated SxSW this past week, will make their Dublin and Crawl debut. And from far to near and to last, but by no means least, :Hounds:, Amateur Historians, Croupier, Overhead, The Albatross, School Tour, So Cow and Crawl veterans Toby Kaar and VerseChorusVerse join a roster of amazing homegrown talent already bursting at the seams.

Release new single ‘A Taste’ and announce Irish tour in April
It’s no revelation that hard work pays off and this year it is Motorcycle Display Team’s time to shine. With the upcoming Irish release of their single ‘A Taste’ on April 5th 2013, taken from their outstanding debut album ‘Captatio Benevolentiae’, the band are set to take Ireland by the scruff, and nobody is going to complain!
The UK power-pop trio formed in 2008 and have since grafted tirelessly to become a mainstay in the UK music scene. They have seen their music featured in “Hollyoaks”, a BBC sitcom called “Off the Hook”, they have been featured as ‘Artist of the Month’ on We7 and were named Unsigned Band of the Month by Absolute Radio. To top that the band have had illustrious residencies in the renowned ‘Dublin Castle’ and The New Cross Inn in London town and have received significant FM radio play in the UK, Ireland and beyond.
Despite all these achievements the band remained to fly relatively under the mainstream radar until now. The album ‘Captatio Benevolentiae’ is their debut LP which reaches us 2 years after the release of their EP ‘The Crayon Masterpiece’. Produced and mixed by Cesar Gimeno Lavin of Modest Mouse and White Lies fame, the 11 songs on the album are undeniably slick and incredibly addictive and have received much critical acclaim to date’
Chordblossom, com (4/5) “MDT have managed to create a record that hops, skips and jumps through a smorgasbord of musical styles and is hugely impressive to possess such versatility. It’s revelatory how good it is. Go buy. Go listen. Go enjoy.”
Chunk.ie (7.5/10) “……a talented rhythm section in Matthew Eyre (Bass Guitar) and Morgan Condon (Drums). Atop this appealing mix sits Vocalist/Guitarist Steve Hinds’ lush falsetto vocal, that hops around with great versatility and playfulness, backed up by some of the tastiest harmonies this side of Motown”
Right Chord Music “The album entirely captivates and through its catchy choruses and shrewd velvety lyrics, keeps you engaged for hours”
The Irish Daily Star (3/5) “An infectious enough blend of art-rock and punk funk to make you want to listen to it again.”The band comprises of three zealous musicians hailing from the finest corners of the globe, among whom talent is not lacking. Steve is a successful actor from the UK, Morgan a Dublin musician who has had former chart success with his former band Zeel . While Matt is a New Zealand lawyer who lays claim to a good lashing of Irish heritage and also a revered ‘clothed’ cameo in a popular porn movie.
So far the band has released two single from the album ‘Betweenager’ and ‘Brickwall’. The band have already toured Ireland to a rip roaring response but with the release of ‘A Taste’ on April 5th MDT have Ireland on their hitlist once more.

Eddi Reader plays last of her sell out shows tonight in Whelans
Eddi Reader
Announces Irish tour in February
‘Vagabond’ a new single available fromwww.eddireader.com
Eddi Reader sets her sights on the Emerald Isle this February to bring us her pop-folk soothing sounds. Eddi’s Irish tour will start in Antrim and she will work her way south to Cork, taking in Dublin, Wexford & Kilkenny.
Eddi grew up in Glasgow and Irvine, Scotland and it was in those towns that she learned to use music as a vehicle for communicating with others through busking and performing at the local folk clubs. In the early 1980s, Eddi travelled around Europe with circus and performance artists before moving to London where she quickly became a sought after session vocalist. She famously harmonised with Annie Lennox touring with the Eurythmics, after her time with successful punk outfit Gang of Four. It was short-lived but warmly remembered Fairground Attraction that really brought her into the limelight and to the attention of a much wider audience. The single “Perfect” and parent album First of a Million Kisses both topped the British charts.
However, it was her subsequent albums which signalled her increasing ability to assimilate different musical styles and make them all very much her own. Her unerring instinct for fine material, whether self penned, collaborative or a carefully chosen cover version resulted in Mirmama (1992), Eddi Reader (1994), Candyfloss & Medicine (1996), Angels & Electricity (1998), Simple Soul (2001).
Eddi is due to release a new single “Vagabond” on 8 February which is taken from her new yet to be titled album, due out later this year. The single will be available as a free download from her website. It was written by Eddi and her newly wedded husband John Douglas, musician and original member of the Trashcan Sinatras, with words by the English poet John Masefield (1878-1967).
Both Eddi and John had been drawn to Masefield’s work over the years and his poem “Vagabond” struck a chord with its simple, conversational evocation of one of life’s wanderers pondering, sometimes answering, the large and small questions of life. For a long time, both Eddi and John had described their lives journeys as ‘Vagabonding’ so it was no surprise that on discovering this poem it had transformed itself into a song within the hour.
The track was recorded in Scotland and Eddi will follow up in the studio to finish the album. After Eddi’s Autumn tour she expressed “I’ve enjoyed performing our new song Vagabond. It’s getting better all the time”, which can only lead to say it will be great by the time she reaches Ireland!
Last year Eddi embarked on a successful Australian tour, UK tour and had lots of festival appearances. She also presented Ye Banks and Braes – A Burns Night Celebration on BBC Ulster which took place on the 25th of January in Ulster Hall. Eddi performed the Burns song “You’re Welcome Willie Stewart” accompanied by the Ulster Orchestra, with conductor Carl Davis.
