METEOR CAMDEN CRAWL ANNOUNCE OPENING NIGHT PARTY & INTERNATIONAL LINE UP

OPENING NIGHT PARTY ANNOUNCED FOR FRIDAY 3RD MAY & INTERNATIONAL LINE UP UNVEILED

With less than two months to go until Dublin’s city centre streets come alive with the best cutting edge Irish and International talent over the May Bank Holiday Weekend, Meteor Camden Crawl Dublin can finally reveal the full line up, bar a few special guests which will remain under wraps for a little while longer.

The festival will kick off with an action packed Opening Night Party on the eve of the full blown Crawl. Montreal based Dirty Beaches led by prolific multi-instrumentalist Alex Zhang Hungtai will headline the Friday night festivities. Supporting their brand new album out in May, the critically acclaimed band will make their first European stop in Dublin before heading to London for their performance at the Yeah Yeah Yeahs curated ATP I Will Be Your Mirror festival.  Completing the bill at Whelans on 3rd May will be Meteor Choice Award nominees windings, hyped US/UK boy girl duo Big Deal and London’s Tropics plus very special guests still to be announced. Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday 22nd March priced at €20.00 (excl booking fee) and will be available from Entertainment.ie/tickets and the wavtickets.ie.

Whilst some of the most hyped homegrown artists have already been announced in recent weeks, anticipation has built for the unveiling of names that will be travelling from abroad to grace the stages of the second Meteor Camden Crawl Dublin on 3rd – 5th May 2013. So, without further adieu, we are pleased to disclose, in no particular order, the International acts performing this year.

Brooklyn born sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson, anchors of the new-age revival project Prince Rama will unveil their live spectacle in Dublin alongside compatriots Atlanta, Georgia’s self described ‘Flower Punk’ band The Black Lips’ return to Dublin for the first time in two years. Stubborn Heart, the Oxford based duo recently awarded Rough Trade Shops’ Album of the Month, will offer up addictive pop and dubstep whilst the reincarnated Joe Flory as Amateur Best (formerly Primary 1) brings his brand of hook filled cartoon sonics to Ireland for the first time.

The entrancing electronic instrumental noise rock from London three piece Three Trapped Tigers whose debut album was deemed a ‘masterpiece’ by critics will join Wrexham’s Gallops in flying the flag for instrumental soundscape-ism movement. On the other end of the scales, Glasgow’s PAWS and London’s Arrows Of Love will serve up some well needed raucous punk rock countering the more soothing sounds from fellow Scots Kid Canaveral and Fence label boss and recording artist Johnny Lynch (aka The Pictish Trail).

Travelling further a field, We Were Evergreen perform their innovative Parisian brand of folk pop-tronica across both days of the festival. Also flying Le Tricolour is Caen’s Concrete Knives who’s debut Bella Union album ‘Be Your Own King’ is currently being met by rave reviews. Labelmates Lanterns On The Lake sail over from Newcastle to stage their luscious layer of gorgeous sounds. Only 22 and already signed to beat heavy players Planet Mu, Tropics (aka Chris Ward) brings us radio sounds of dreamy summer nostalgia.

Making a different kind of noise and currently releasing on the hot as anything Tri-Angle Records, WIFE is the subtly disquieting electronic journey of James Kelly (former black metal band vocals) and probably an acronym of something very curious. And, on the sound of dark, Warp Records’ Darkstar make dark warped electronic and slightly psychedelic pop perfect for their late night performance on the closing night of the Crawl. Also signed to Warp and one of the best live artists we’ve seen in some time, PVT (pronounced ‘pivot’)hands down travels the furthest from Sydney, Australia to show off their powerful synthetic post rock.

From curious to mysterious, No Ceremony///, the Mancunians who dominated SxSW this past week, will make their Dublin and Crawl debut. And from far to near and to last, but by no means least, :Hounds:, Amateur Historians, Croupier, Overhead, The Albatross, School Tour, So Cow and Crawl veterans Toby Kaar and VerseChorusVerse join a roster of amazing homegrown talent already bursting at the seams.
